Fort Wayne Public Art PK Boasts Standing Room Only
We are pleased to report that our Fort Wayne Public Art Master Plan kickoff event, Public Art Pk Night powered by Pecha Kucha, was a huge success! We were lucky enough to be hosted by the Arts United Center in the Rolland Gallery, a beautiful mid-century modern building designed by Louis Kahn and located in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne.
Pecha Kucha is a style of presentation where 20 slides are presented for 20 seconds each, for a fun, fast-paced educational event.
The spirit of the Public Art PK Powered by Pecha Kucha event was about celebrating the power of public art in an approachable, casual, and super fun way. Our Fort Wayne friends were excited about this fun educational event, too, with multiple news outlets reporting before and at the event, and over 200 community members attending, leaving a standing room only audience for our talented presenters.
Presenters included:
Réna Bradley, a designer, community advocate, and Community Development Director for Bridge of Grace
Alexandra Hall, a local artist and muralist who, with FW Downtown Improvement District, developed the large scale mural program “Art This Way”
Tim Parsley, a local artist, muralist, and Chair of the Art Department and Associate Professor of Studio Art
Sayaka Ganz, a local sculptor and artist who uses reclaimed metal and plastic objects in her pieces
Adrian Curry, Founder and CEO of The Art Leadership Center and Director of the Percussion Theatre
Jim Merz, a local sculptor who utilizes technology in his pieces
Keynote speaker Marc Pally, a nationally-recognized leader for the development and management of public art projects will be the keynote speaker
If you missed it in Fort Wayne, or are just interested in what our talented presenters put together, you can watch the replay of the entire event here.
