NEXT: Art on High
This is an exciting time for Designing Local, as we have just launched our first major local project: Art on High, a strategic master plan.
Designing Local was selected by the City of Columbus to lead an effort to help define the High Street Corridor by implementing public art along the street, from Goodale Street to 9th Avenue. Art on High will be done in coordination with the City of Columbus’ High Street Streetscape Improvements Project. The streetscape project will improve safety and aesthetics along High Street and foster new connections between the High Street community, its visitors, and the public spaces they inhabit for many years to come.
The plan will create a framework for public art site selections, mediums, and funding while also integrating an awareness about public art for elected officials, business owners, residents, visitors, and anyone else involved in the High Street community. Everyone is encouraged to submit their own ideas about the type of art to implement within the corridor. Ideas for both contemporary and traditional art are welcome; the sky is the limit! We want to celebrate the rich history of High Street while supporting future growth opportunities, and doing so through public art is one of the most effective ways to do so!
Though Designing Local is leading the team we are joined by our wonderful partners: MKSK Studios, Mark Pally (art curator), and Kolar Design. To learn more about Art on High, visit the project website: www.ArtonHigh.com
