Designing Local team opens Great Placemakers Lab
Designing Local lead the opening event at the recent Great Placemakers Lab. Putting “Columbus” in Columbus: a Citizen Design Studio Hour, highlighted the importance of designing one of a kind local art and infrastructure. Designing Local helped conference attendees think broadly about how design must be made local for cities to remain competitive.
As an example, the workshop focused specifically on light poles in Downtown Columbus and how they could be designed to be exclusively Columbus light poles. Attendees worked in groups to design the light poles and presented them to the rest of the workshop. Though time was short, the results were impressive.
