Montpelier ArtSynergy Public Art Master Plan Adopted

In Montpelier, now is the time to ensure their culture and place in the world aren’texpressed merely on paper or in the news, but in the physical environment.The Montpelier Public Art Master Plan will guide the future of public art and enable the City to define how they wish the world to view them—and how they see themselves.

Public art can extend a city’s influence and tell their story to those who want to know more about what Montpelier represents. The art of Montpelier can become their calling card to the world. The ArtSynergy Public Art Master Plan is a living document that will grow and change with the trajectory of the city, as will the scale and diversity of artwork placed in the community.

Through the establishment of a governance structure as well as solidifying funding opportunities, the City’s growing collection will be focused and cohesive. The guidelines of the community character framework outlined in the plan will ensure that all future art will reflect the values and vision of the people of Montpelier.

The goal of this plan is to ensure Montpelier’s communal voice is captured and expressed through the art they exhibit and commission.

Designing Local is proud to have collaborated with the City of Montpelier, the Community Engagement Lab, and the National Endowment for the Arts to create this Public Art Master Plan.
